October 1, 2016
As summer draws to an end, so too does a very meaningful chapter of my professional career. After almost 9 years at the helm of Urban Plantations, I am returning to my beloved Oregon to start a small farm to grow heritage lamb and turkey for Portland-area markets.
I have enjoyed working with you over the past several years and I truly appreciate your business and the support you have shown our company. It is with great pride and confidence that I announce the new owners of Urban Plantations, Mat Roman and Paige Hailey.
An Orange County native, Mat has lived in San Diego for the last 10 years. He graduated from SDSU with a degree in Business Management Entrepreneurship and honed his skills in the hospitality industry before moving to Urban Plantations several years ago. Mat is thrilled with the opportunity to not only maintain but build upon the legacy this company has created in Southern California for the last near-decade.
Paige was born and raised in San Diego and attended UC Berkeley for Conservation and Resource Studies, where she was first introduced to urban agriculture. After returning to San Diego, she worked at a compost facility and an organic nursery before starting a small urban farm in Ocean Beach where she grew food for local restaurants. Paige is excited to have the opportunity to own part of a business in a city she loves and an industry she truly believes in.
I have complete faith that these two young people, and all of the staff at Urban Plantations, will continue to provide you with the excellent level of service and quality of workmanship that you have come to enjoy during your relationship with our company.
As I embark on my new adventure I am thankful for the knowledge that Urban Plantations will continue to grow and remain dedicated to supporting our community by helping people grow fresh, organic produce in beautiful, healthy gardens all over San Diego and Orange counties.
My last day at Urban Plantations will be October 28th, 2016. Our company address and telephone number will remain the same.
Thanks again & most respectfully yours,
